What is the “HL3 Series” Infrared Tube Heater?

Introduction

The Re-Verber-Ray HL3 Series is our most recommended gas-fired infrared radiant tube heater line.  Manufactured by Detroit Radiant Products, the HL3 is part of the Premier family, which also includes the MP and the DX3L. The HL3 is a unique heater built to last while exceeding performance expectations. Let’s explore what makes the HL3 different from other heaters on the market.

Two-Stage Technology

First, the HL3 has patented two-stage technology, providing more comfort while remaining incredibly energy efficient. Two-stage heaters have a high and low fire mode. This allows the heater to adapt to changing temperatures in the space. High-fire mode quickly heats the space to the desired temperature. Two-stage technology is beneficial for recovering heat quickly in any space with high air infiltration or air changes. Scenarios like these often happen in applications with overhead doors opening and closing frequently. After high-fire mode has heated the space, low-fire mode will maintain the desired temperature. This reduces energy consumption, leading to less on/off cycles for the heater versus blasting high fire mode consistently.

Quality Materials

The HL3 Series is constructed with quality materials and solid craftsmanship. The heater comes with aluminized steel tubes coated in a 95% emissive black paint–the same kind used by NASA on the Space Shuttle! Highly polished aluminum reflectors add to the overall efficiency by reflecting the radiant heat down to the floor. Heat then sinks into the objects at the ground level to re-radiate back into the space.

Flexibility

Like other Re-Verber-Ray heaters, the HL3 has an input range of 65,000-200,000 BTUs, and is available in lengths from 20 to 70 feet. Powered by natural gas or propane, the HL3 also has self-diagnostic LED lights for troubleshooting from the ground level. You can access the burner box without any tools which makes maintanence easy.

The Re-Verber-Ray line is extremely flexible and can fit most any space thanks to the wide selection of available customizations and accessories. Consider an L-shape layout with a 90-degree elbow, or a U-shape with a U-bend add on instead. Achieve “heat throw” with brackets to angle the heater and side shield extensions to bounce those radiant heat waves back into the main space.
